CANDIDATES FROM THE ORGANIC FOOD INDUSTRY BACKGROUND WILL BE PREFERRED.
Responsibilities:
- Create a strong NOP & NPOP procurement network for certified organic raw materials.
- Manage & coordinate purchasing activities for raw materials & packaging materials of food products.
- Establish farm-level network & procurement and create a strong database of farmers commodity-wise.
- Maintain the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation.
- Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies
- Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
- Determine quantity and timing of deliveries
- Manage daily purchasing activities
- Manage supplier relations and negotiate contracts, prices, timelines, etc.
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation
- Coordinate with inventory control to determine and manage inventory needs.
- Ensure that all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications.
- Prepare purchase budgets
- Train new employees in the purchasing process and how to use the purchasing system.
- Propose improvements to the current purchasing system that will improve vendor relationships and lower the cost of doing business
- Collaborate with inventory control and sales to develop metrics for gauging inventory level needs and then maintain those levels throughout the year
- Take the lead in creating profitable ways to manage obsolete and slow-moving stock to help offset losses

Requirements & Skills
- Proven working experience as Purchasing Manager, Agent or Officer in the ORGANIC FOOD INDUSTRY
- Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management
- A knack for negotiation and networking
- Ability to gather and analyse data and to work with figures
- Degree in business administration or a related field.
- Experience as a purchasing manager or in a similar position.
- Knowledge of inventory and supply chain management.
- Supervisory and management experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently.
