The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has revised the compliance timeline for amendments to its labelling provisions. This decision, finalized during the 45th meeting of the Food Authority, marks a significant update in the regulatory landscape for food businesses.
New Enforcement Date:
The standard enforcement date for the amended provisions has been set as July 1, 2025. This provides food businesses with a minimum of 180 days from the date of notification to align their practices with the updated regulations.

Regulatory Framework:

Flexibility for Emergencies:
In addition to the standard timeline, the FSSAI has introduced a mechanism for flexibility in emergencies. Implementation timelines can now be adjusted on a case-by-case basis, allowing the Authority to respond promptly to public health or safety concerns.
