Cargill, in collaboration with Saatvik Agro Processors, has inaugurated a new corn milling plant in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, to cater to the growing demand for starch derivatives in India’s food industry. This plant will primarily serve the confectionery, infant formula, and dairy sectors, producing essential ingredients like thickening and stabilizing agents used in products such as gummies, jellies, yogurt, and cheese.
With a market value of $15 billion, these sectors are experiencing rapid growth, with annual compounded growth rates of 6 to 11% over the next five years. The new facility, initially capable of producing 500 tons of starch derivatives per day, has the potential to expand to 1,000 tons daily to meet rising demand.
The plant will exclusively supply products for Cargill, ensuring adherence to its high global food safety and quality standards. This initiative will not only strengthen Cargill’s supply chain efficiency but also reduce costs and logistics by serving customers in North, Central, and Western India.
