Peggs – Quality Control Microbiologist

Raja Fat and Feeds Pvt Ltd. manufactures value added egg products such as Egg powder, Pasteurized Egg liquid and Pasteurized Frozen Egg Liquid under the brand ‘PUNJAB EGGS” (Peggs). These products are used as main ingredients in wide range of food products within the food industry and food services, for example, Food mixes, Cakes & Bakery, Confectionery, Deserts, Baby food, Ready to Eat meals, Sausages, Mayonnaise, Dressings and in Catering.

Our Plant is located in North India, in the industrial town of Rajpura, also known as the gateway of Punjab. We are one of the leading agriculture companies in Northern India. Peggs is amongst the five largest producers of processed egg products in India.The promoters of the plant have experience of over two decades in Poultry Industry.

Vertical Integration
The biggest advantage with us is which provides through quality control at all stages of production ensuring optimal resource usage and traceability of the final product. We produce shell eggs at Raja Farms Pvt. Ltd., our sister concern, with overall capacity of more than 120,000 eggs. This unit is in close proximity to our Egg Processing Plant.

Our ISO 22000 certified Poultry farm is equipped with high level of in-house automation including feed and water supply as well as manure disposal system together with automated collection of eggs. This ensures the biosecurity of the poultry and finished products. The birds are put to special care in a highly clean environment and are provided nutritious feeds. This assists in delivering standardized quality eggs through most modern and hygienic process of manufacturing. The production sites of the company are equipped with up to date egg production and egg processing equipment. Our ISO 22000 certified two-fodder plant provides the farms with high quality vegetarian feed.

Quality Control
The high-quality product is the key element of the Punjab Eggs strategy. This is made possible with our own Laboratory, which continuously performs the whole range of physical, chemical and microbiological tests of the egg product and the finished product. Additionally, the eggs are checked for the absence of dioxins and GMOs.

We do not use antibiotics, hormones, additives in our production process and no feed components with animal origin. The processing plant process over 250,000 eggs daily. More than 20 types of egg products meet the requirement of food industry leaders. Fresh eggs are kept in a controlled temperature storage room, with stock rotation on weekly basis.

Technology Driven
Using state of the art equipment from Sanovo, eggs are first directed to egg washing machine which directs it forward to breaking machine where eggs are broken in such a way as to separate egg yolk from the white. Under the supervision of highly qualified staff the egg liquids are filtered, chilled and transferred to Pasteurizer. Our Pasteurizer ensures that all the criteria i.e. retention, flow rate and required temperature are reached. Pasteurization of all finished products guaranties their safety.

Each operation is carried out according to procedures approved by FSSC 22000. Our products achieve high level of safety in microbiological, chemical and physical characteristics due to the strict application of our HACCP control plan at all stages.


We offer steady supply of pasteurized liquid eggs in chilled or frozen form for local catering purposes and for exports. We are equipped with vertical Spray dryers for powdered egg products.

We offer great variety of packaging depending on the demand of our customers under the brand name- PUNJAB EGGS. Both Indian and global companies of food industry such as producers of confectionery, bakery, meat and fish products, mayonnaise and the like, are our clients. The food safety and quality assure management system based on international standards is integrated at our production site.

Job Responsibilities

•Sampling, qualitative and quantitative microbiological examinations including, but not limited to testing EB, AMC, Staph, B. cereus, yeast and mould , Salmonella, E.coli, Listeria, pH and other related analysis using both direct streak and pour plate for incoming materials, finished product and investigations

•Sampling and testing as applicable utilities systems including pH, sensory and microbiological analysis

•Prepares, reviews, and reports results of microbiological analyses; maintain and document records in accordance with established procedures

•Maintenance of the environmental monitoring program including sampling, testing, data entry and reporting results

•Ensure maintenance and calibration program for analytical instrumentation and equipment within the laboratory

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology, Food Science, or related technical field.

Undergraduate coursework including microbiological analysis or equivalent work experience.

EXPERIENCE:

2-3 years’ experience in a microbiology laboratory or setting is preferred.

SKILLS:

•Effective communicator with training, facilitation, and supervisory skills.

•Problem solving skills.

•Must be capable of working with minimal direct supervision and have strong prioritization, interpersonal, and self-initiative skills.

•Computer skills to include proficiency with the Microsoft Word and Excel required. Access, SAP and Statistical software experience is preferred

•Expertise in microbiological analysis

•Knowledgeable in FSSC 22000, GMP, ISO 22000-2005 a plus.

Employee must support and comply with all Raja Fat and Feeds Private limited programs and policies, including, affirmative action goals and commitments, SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) strategies, TPM (Total Performance Management), GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices) and Safety Policies to ensure employee safety and product quality. Employee must meet all requirements related to ISO (International Organization for Standardization) standards for Quality, Food Safety, Environmental Compliance and Occupational Health and Safety.

Associate shall follow factory food safety, quality objectives & targets follow Raja Fat and Feeds’ Good Manufacturing Practices, report food safety and quality issues immediately, maintain compliance with regulations, and refer to Raja Fat and Feeds’ Quality Management System on all related procedures and programs. Understand the food safety and quality aspects of the position as indicated on QMS, OJT’s and SOP’s that apply.
