In a significant move to bolster India’s food processing sector, edible oil giant Adani Wilmar Ltd has commenced operations at its state-of-the-art food processing plant in Gohana, District Sonepat, Haryana. The project has been established with a substantial investment of nearly Rs 1,300 crore, marking a pivotal step in the company’s expansion plans.

- Investment and Size:
- Built with a capital outlay of Rs 1,298 crore, the facility spans an impressive 85 acres.
- The funding for the project comes from Adani Wilmar’s Initial Public Offering (IPO) proceeds.
- Production Capacity:
- The integrated plant boasts an annual production capacity of 6.27 lakh tonnes.
- It will produce 4,50,000 tonnes of food products, including staples like rice, wheat flour, suji, rawa, and maida.
- Additionally, the facility will manufacture 2 lakh tonnes of edible oils such as mustard oil, rice bran oil, and cottonseed oil.
- It also includes production of Mustard DOC and Ricebran DOC for animal feed.
- Employment Opportunities:
- The plant is expected to generate approximately 2,000 direct and indirect jobs in Haryana, contributing significantly to local economic growth.
- National Significance:
- The facility is one of the largest food complexes in the country and reflects Adani Wilmar’s commitment to enhancing India’s food security and processing capabilities.
Transition of Adani Wilmar
This development comes shortly after the Adani Group announced its exit from Adani Wilmar last month. Despite this shift, the company, known for its Fortune brand cooking oils, wheat flour, and other food products, remains focused on expanding its operations and delivering high-quality products to Indian households.
The launch of the Sonipat plant underscores Adani Wilmar’s dedication to meeting the growing demand for staple food products and edible oils in India, while also supporting farmers and creating new economic opportunities in the region.
