Position Title: Assistant Manager- Quality Assurance (Store and Supply Chain-Raw)’

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
MANAGE THE KPA’s (Key Performance Areas) OF SUBORDINATES
- Performance of self is achieved against the agreed KPA’s.
- Full implementation of training / development plan for all 3 P seasonal subordinates
- Coordinate with shop floor staff to achieve desired end quality.
- Set up the general requirements for QA specifications and standards for materials,
- Support the Quality Chemists to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system.
- Responsible for planning, organizing and managing the overall activities of receiving / KEQ quality functions in farmers field.
- Able to work in field as well as in 3 P cold store and factory.
- GAP implementation at field level and their assessment.
- CIPC Application at cold stores.
- Quality testing of open market purchase and store assessment.
- Recognition and motivation store team. (Best Store of the Year, Food Safety, Good Catch and Safety Award).
ACCEPT / HOLD / REJECTION:
- Ensure that the potato lots have been tested appropriately to meet the required product specification. Communicate any changes in quality with the QC and Production Executive.
- Ensure that raw materials used for production are as per specifications laid down by the organization.
- Pass requisition for the accepted potato lots.
- Verify hold lots and get it regarded before dispatching to factory.
- Verify rejection notes for beyond satisfactory limits of potato specification.
Communicate with Agro manager, plant manager, store manager, in case of any rejection or hold made.
PROCESS MANAGEMENT:
- Implements ongoing quality improvement processes working with interdepartmental teams.
- Check potato quality in the store, and report to Manager and GM. throughout storage cycle, through quality checkpoints and testing.
- Work with production to solve customer/product issues as necessary.
- Responsible for controlling the overall cost of QA operations.
- Implementation IPM programme at cold stores and monthly assessment.
- Soil testing in Agro lab.
QUALITY MANAGEMENT:
- Provides effective communication regarding issues, objectives, initiatives and performance to plan.
- Manages the planning and execution of product testing efforts, including all associated resources to meet committed delivery dates.
- Responsible and accountable of flagging the timing of interdepartmental deliverables and the quality of their output.
- Evaluate potato lot samples for conformance to specifications.
- Provide lot number to store team as per required quality to the factory (fries and specialty products).
- Takes part in the Quality Management System Audits.
- Conducts Supplier audits from time to time.
- Conducts CCP verification on weekly basis
- Coordinate with Territory In charge for farm cleaning issues & food safety issues.
- Manage external lab testing requirements.
- Review the current policies and improvise plans to improve upon the existing quality standards.
- Make monthly Food Safety and Quality report to present management and quality team.
- RCA and CAPs for any complaint from stores and help to agro team for field related complaint.
- Raw potato variety screening and monthly testing of R&D.
DOCUMENT CONTROL MANAGEMENT:
- Coordinate all activities related to the Document Control procedure, including technical documents, drawings, and commercial correspondence.
- Input document data into the standard registers ensuring that the information is accurate and up to date.
- Generate the various document control reports as required.
- Makes sure that controlled copies of latest approved documents and drawings are given to the appropriate staff, subcontractors and suppliers as applicable
- Create and maintain company quality documentation, such as quality manuals, quality procedures, etc.
- Timely update about storage parameter to Agriculture head and record keeping for data analysis.
- Prepare and implement documents related to human safety.
- FSSAI license compliance for transporter.
TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT:
- Conduct frequent trainings for awareness of various quality & food safety systems for Territory In charges and sub territory In charges.
- Schedule internal audits on regular intervals
- Make sure that training is given every year to 3 P casuals for arrival quality check, so that they can well perform the assigned tasks effectively; manage the budget and its other administrative functions in order to make sure that the operation is effectively conducted, cost saving and well integrated
- Training to 3P cold store employees related to Human Safety, 5S, Food Safety and Quality.
- Training to Agro team and transporter related to Food Safety and Quality.
AUDIT’S Of the Cold store.
- Conduct audits, including closing out audit findings, creating audits finding reports and determine proper corrective and preventive actions.
- Managing external resources in the execution of audits.
- Compiling and issuing report and support interpretation of its contents; follow-up and monitor closure of actions
- Manage suppliers’ performance and conduct audits.
- Audit of seed stores Punjab and providing feedback for improvement.
- Monitoring store operation – Air circulation fans, cooling unit, humidifier and Co2 machines.
SAFETY:
- Supervise all regulations on safety, take on all required safety equipment, give encouragement to staff on practicing safe working regulations, handle with apparent difficulties at once for inform them to observers
- Ensure safety regulatory compliance.
- Quarterly Safety meeting with store and Agro non-growing team.
- Monthly safety briefing and assessment for 3P cold store.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Maintain continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system, such as 5S, Kaizen lean methods, etc.
- Calibrate instruments in-house.
- Add new procedures, work instruction, formats in QA procedures.
- Develop training to build quality awareness.
- Online data check of chamber from remote location in case of deviation communicate to store team.
- Record keeping of dispatch lot from store for traceability and current stock in chambers.
- Monitoring of pipping in stored potato so that CIPC dose could be given on time and reduce dose of CIPC chemical.
- Participate in Global storage call and implement new ideas in McCain India’s cold stores.
- Identify and develop vendor near Agro lab for providing edible oil to do USDA fry color.
- Stamping of weighing machine which are used in Agro lab as well as RND Farm.
- Arrange and distribute instruments, stationary material to QC Inspectors.
- Promote Diversity and inclusion at 3P cold stores and QC Inspectors.
- Ensure Food Safety and Quality requirements in 3rd Party manufacturing.
- Supplier and DC audit from external CB/Agency.
- Create awareness and engagement in Agronomy and farmers through World Food Safety Day and World Quality Day.
- Trial to find out alternate of CIPC at cold stores.
- Check quality of stored and arrival seed.
- New lab set-up at dedicated cold store.
- Explore and looks new ideas to control food safety issue at store and field.
Requirements:
Academic:
- Must have: Minimum Graduate Degree in Science/ Food Technology.
Related Work Experience (Internal to the organization or external):
Minimum 2-3 years in Quality Control Lab
