About NIFTEM-T Thanjavur
National Institute of Food Technology, entrepreneurship and managementThanjavur (NIFTEM-T), an institute of national importance (Formerly IIFPT), under the Minstry of Food Processing Industries (MoFP). The NIFTEM-T is a R&D and academic institution under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India. Apart from identifying technologies for preservation, processing and value addition of raw agricultural commodities, it also offers B. Tech, M. Tech and Ph.D. courses in Food processing Engineering and M.Tech in Food Science and Technology.
Consultancy and transfer of technology are being carried out for the benefit of the stakehólders all over the country. The Institute has strong tie-ups with many national and international research and academic institutions and involved in ofganizing various HRD programs including non-formal trainings in the field of food processing. NIFTEM-T has state-of-the-art laboratory, incubation centre and NABL accrediated laboratory
Eligibility
Karyashala is open to postgraduate and PhD students from Institutes, Colleges, and Universities in India. Applicants pursuing PG/PhD programs in the discipline of Food Engineering, Food Processing, Post Harvest Engineering & Technology, Food Technology, Food Quality and Safety, Agricultural Processing. Dairy Technology. Aquaculture processing and related departments are eligible. Students who have recently completed their PG programs are also eligible. Preference will be given to the students having interest in Food Packaging, Testing of Packaging Materials & Food Safety. Candidates who have completed PhD will not be considered.
Total numbers of seats are limited to 25,There is no registration fees.
Food & Accomodation
All the shortlisted participants will be provided with food and accommodation in the institute as per the funding agency norms. Accommodation will be on a sharing basis in the institute trainees hostel, Accommodation can also be booked in nearby hotels directly or through prior information to organizers on payment basis

Preamble
The India packaging market size was 373.6 billion units in 2021. The market is expected to achieve a CAGR of more than 6% during the forecast period. According to the Packaging Industry Association of India (PIAI), the sector is growing at 24% to 27% per annum. Packaging is a unique discipline that blends Science, Art, Technology, Design, Research, Marketing, Supply Chain, Quality and many other business principles. Since ages, the basic goal for packaging has always been to preserve, protect and transport the product.
Packaging Industry is growing at a faster pace than previous years as the demand for newer packaging formats and technologies continue to grow rapidly. Since this has become a vital part of our present-day market economy, Packaging Professionals are required to be a part of a team that is involved in the product developmernt and ensuring that the product is delivered to the end consumer in the most desirable condition. The role played by Packaging is becoming more and more vital in the entire value chain.
About the workshop
In recent years, India has witnessed ecological packaging growth, thanks to the increase of packaged food consumption and awareness, and demand for quality products. Also, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSA) announced new packaging regulations to replace the former 2011 provisions with new labelling regulations. Hence the demand for packaging professionals is growing because the market is focusing on customer satisfaction and the value for money.
Well trained packaging professionals are required in almost all the food processing industries to manage various functions related with packaging. At the same time, students are asking for more information about packaging apart from their regular course work to improve their knowledge and skill for employment and research. Considering the demand of food packaging profession and carrier opportunities of students the high end workshop is focused on following objectives.
