The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has amended the eligibility criteria for the food safety officer role. The notification was out on 28th March 2025, which stated that upon approval of the Central Government, the list has been expanded by FSSAI.
This amendment updates the previous notification from September 21, 2023, with the goal of expanding the eligibility criteria for professionals in the field of food safety. The revised notification was issued by FSSAI’s Chief Executive Officer, G. Kamala Vardhana Rao.
Under this amendment, the following qualifications are now accepted for candidates aspiring to become Food Safety Officers:
- MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery)
- BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery)
- BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
- BUMS (Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery)
- BSMS (Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery)
- BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery)
- BSRMS (Bachelor of Sowa Rigpa Medicine and Surgery)
