OUR STORY

Prateek & Mugdha Bhagchandka launched M.O.M Meal of the Moment in early 2017 with a simple mission – to provide convenient home style meals primarily to the millenials not lucky enough to be currently living with their mothers.

Both Prateek & Mugdha had spent a few years studying in the UK and often yearned for a home style Dal Chawal or Poha but none of the available options ever hit the spot! Years later when they met and happened to discuss their time abroad and their common longing for these comforting home meals, they knew this was a gap in the market worth exploring because there was a very large number of people in India too that didn’t have the luxury of a home cooked meal at least some of the time.

The next couple of years were spent on R&D and building out a state of the art facility to manufacture the instant meals that can truly classify as mom made – yummy and without any added preservatives or artificial flavours. After launching in 2017 the brand has been growing at a steady clip and is now available at over 5000 stores nation wide as well as on leading airlines, cinema chains and various other points.

The year 2020 marked the brand’s foray into the healthy snacking category. In the years to come, the brand has a vision is to provide healthy and convenient food and beverage options that a mom would truly love to offer her loved ones.

Responsible for the control and establishing of technical specifications of new and existing products. Responsible for product labelling and updates to meet customer and import / export regulatory requirements. Work with designer and QA to resolve issues relating to packaging, formulations and finished products.

Reports To: Manager – NPD

Key Responsibilities:

 Support the development of products leveraging expertise in food chemistry, ingredient, functionality, engineering, and experimental design
 Work collaboratively and develop strong relationships with cross functional teams including Marketing, QA, Operations and Sales to solve key business issues and to drive. creative innovation and profitable growth
 Lead R&D projects around extrusion processes from an engineering perspective
 Manages and supports R&D technical functions such as sensory, shelf life testing, legal label claims, product/packaging improvement
 Manage scientific approaches to business needs in areas of flavor and microbial shelf life
 Independently complete research projects to design, support development of and improve new and existing product portfolio
 Provide product costs based on commodities, ingredients, and product formulations
 Source ingredients and leverage vendor expertise in ingredient functionality
 Test ideas on processing or packaging attributes that would improve product performance or desirability
 Develop and maintain product specification, ingredient statements, allergen information and formulas for seasoning blends; then incorporate respective information into the label design process as needed
 Participate in production trials to ensure products are made to specifications
 Work with production personnel on scale up of new products, suggest initial order quantities for ingredients and packaging, obtain cost of materials
 Provide support on technical and/or quality issues


 Act as a technical resource to support quality issues, answer questions about products, production capabilities, labeling
regulations & Prepare product samples and ship to customers as requested
 General awareness of USDA and/or FDA/ FSSAI/Codex regulations, restricted/limited ingredients and approved processing procedures
 Optimize cost/quality and process improvements contributing to increased product quality and profitability for the business
 Design tests, interpret results and recommend next steps in product development
 Assist QA/QC in the analysis of product that generates customer complaints
 Preparing Documents – MFR, SOP, RM / FG specs, Stability study reports etc.

Experience & Education

 Degree – B-tech / M-tech in Food Science, Food Engineering or Food Chemistry.
 Prior experience in product development / Industrial training in R&D (if Fresher)

Functional Requirements:

 Project management
 Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
 Fluent in English, Hindi (verbally and written)
 Professional knowledge of raw material, recipe / formulation, manufacturing processes in a relevant field – Bakery, Snacks, & Nankeens, RTE/RTS Foods, RTD Beverages
 Excellent interpersonal skills, e.g., communication, relationship building,
networking, teamwork.
