Position Title: [[Sr. Production Manager]]
Position Summary:
To lead and manage, the safe and efficient function of the production Department located at the Mehsana site, comprising of the processing of potatoes to French Fries and specialties, subsequent packing and manage hygiene of entire plant.

- Leadership/Teamwork
- Support management team decisions and ensure that all commitments made are followed through.
- Maintain a positive and constructive attitude that promotes confidence in those around the role.
- Be part of the management team to ‘paint a vision’ of where the company is heading in a time of change, and what steps are required ‘to get there’.
- Participate in Crisis Management Team and Food Defense Team.
- Quality of Product
- Ensure all employees within scope of responsibility understand their responsibilities about First Time Quality and impact of maintaining hygiene, sanitation and organizations GMP requirements.
- Safety
- Participate in the ongoing improvement of McCain Foods Safety Plans and visibly and constantly support its implementation into the Plant Mehsana.
- Monitor reports to ensure that all safety and environmental procedures are taking place in accordance with requirements to reduce TIR including personal check reviews by set periodic check reviews of safety, housekeeping inspections and internal audits.
- Create an environment that encourages Behavioral Observation Safety in the department.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Understand and support continuous quality improvement in the organization including supporting quality audits, initiative in making improvements to own area of responsibility and regularly discuss improvement opportunities with direct reports and others as required.
- Plant Production
- Review on a daily basis all products processed and packed to ensure compliance with company quality standards and expected customer requirements. Measurement by percentage First Time Quality and percentage reworked product compared to history.
- Effectively conduct team meetings or improvement events to support HACCP and GMP organizational requirements. Measured by number of improvement team events and outcomes.
- Monitor all raw material intakes ensuring quality and volume requirements are met and continuously improved on. Develop and implement effective investigation of equipment faults and completion of appropriate documentation. Measurement is by cost statement performance relating to production, e.g. rate, recovery.
- Provide access to maintenance crews to effectively repair and conduct preventative maintenance activities, including identification of equipment faults and completion of appropriate documentation. Measurement by percentage downtime improvements.
- Monitor that departmental training is occurring to achieve safe, optimum operator efficiencies. Measurement by compliance with KEQ and KES Training component of Audit requirements.
- People Management
- Identify own goals and individual KPI’s and develop team and their individual capability. Measure performance using organizational tools (PEP).
- Demonstrate open, positive and constructive communication and enact McCain Foods Code of Conduct behaviors by providing support to all production department personnel in activities. This is to improve teamwork, motivation, leadership, and job specific knowledge on a routine basis as well as monthly and an annual review. Measured through quick response and implementation of corrective actions and all Production people reaching required agreed targets.
- Do monthly recognition program in monthly review meeting to batter engagement and motivation of production people.
- Financial Management
- Develop and apply strong financial management approach to annual production department budget ensuring compliance with all financial management policies, audit requirements and reporting
- Set with Plant Manager, and meet, all production department SCA’s. Provide written explanations as required, at month end and at the end of the financial year including any deviation.
- Initiate and recommend projects for capital consideration. Provide support for projects in the form of savings/benefits and improvements to safety and plant performance.
- Management Reporting
- Provide timely and accurate reports and briefing notes to Plant Manager and management team in accordance with required timetables and on a needs basis to appropriate persons.

- Good communication skills, working with a diverse number of people both internally and externally to the organization including ability to train others.
- Ability to implement strategic corporate initiatives in an operational context, including policy and frameworks, projects and communication plans

- Ability to develop and maintain strong internal relationships, working as a business partner.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets
- Clear and articulate oral and written communication skills, including report writing and presentation skills
- Ability to audit process for legislative and policy compliance
- Confident with complexity, contradiction and change
Academic: Must have: B Tech/M tech with min. 10 years’ experience in manufacturing industries.
